    I actually don't have a clue about this piece. It's just a pretty cameo. I recently saw a post that said it was a victorian era cameo made from abalone shell.

      The dark background layer says the source of the mother of pearl is not abalone. Possibly black lipped oyster.

      The cameo is from the 1950s/60s.
