Button, maybe French military

Button found at park on Long Island about 5/6 inches below grade metal detecting. Seems like it is silver over copper finely made maybe for the cuff. Also, to me it looks it is a thick layer of silver over copper/brass? If anyone recognizes or may have information pertinent to the button please share. Thank you…I have a lot of other stuff to post.this button appears to be silver and is not magnetic. Just ran a little water over it and is very silver looking.
