Brass chamber candlestick holder ...

Before electricity lots and lots of these adjustable chamber candlestick holders with finger loops were made in brass and (for better houses) in silver. When you retired to your chamber in the evening, you'd light your candle and carry it in your candlestick holder so you could see where you were going on your way to your chamber. Maybe your servant would carry it for you. Hopefully you'd remember to put out the light before you fell asleep, or your house might be in flames during the night. This one from ca. 1820 of brass is marked A.E.F. (what does it mean ?) and 14 cm high.
