I had one of these in the early '60s. It's a Mattel Guerrilla Booby Trap that was an addition to their line of Guerrilla fighter equipment. I guess the unconventional warfare in Southeast Asia, Green Berets, etc. gave rise to the concept. They had a playset with a camouflaged Guerrilla Gun "Tommy Burst" Thompson, beret, and a camouflaged poncho. I just had the individually sold Thompson.
The first picture Trap in disarmed/neutral setting. There's a cocking spring to arm it. There was a place to put a cap(Mattel recommended their "Greenie Caps" The Booby Trap came with some green string to secure it against an object and to use as a trip wire. The trip wire config is in the 3rd Pic.
There was also a "Timer" mode for a delayed charge(pic 4). The "timer" was a suction cup that held the arming lever until the suction released the lever. It was NOT an accurate or consistent timer. If it was a real charge and I had to pick the guy in the squad to deliver it. We'll I'd pick the one that's fastest.....and expendable, you know who I'm talking about
Nice one! You have the coolest items in you collection!!
We had such fine toys.
