    Pye p 28
This is from Cambridge, England. 1950 vintage. AM and a couple of shortwave bands. Rebuilt from a junker by my radio guy. He even used his printer to make a set of knobs for it. Yes he is one talented guy. Its been converted from 220 volt electrics to Canadian standard 120 volts. I added the back panel, to try to lessen the dust entering. Lots of enlarged holes to guard against heat . Working very well with a long external antenna. Glad he gave this rare tube radio to me. A very common item in the uk...not so, here in canada.

Just as bit of history of Pye. I was chatting with an engineer living in The UK a few days ago. The original Pye company in Cambridge, England, was taken over by Phillips by the time he applied for work there. Still, it brings a string to this old junker that's been saved and now lives till the end of time with me in Canada.

By the Way, there is a Canadian connection to Pye, as they had set up a factory in Ajax, Ontario. Mostly for the production of two way radios...they sort used in Taxis and police cars. Also that factory in Ajax made a lot of the original equipment used by the CBC. Imagine that !

As for the town or should I say city of Ajax...it was famous during the war for the making or at least the filling of bomb shells for the war effort. The idea was to have a factory production safely out of range from the Germans.

So there you go, a little something extra, for those of you, who have kindly saw fit to take a peek at my Pye Tube Radio. Cheers !
