The great stock market crash happened in the month of October 1929....96 years ago this month. Philco tube radios were made in Philadelphia . This model 20 was considered the first of the cathedral style. Came to market within months of the start of the great depression. A very popular tube radio. Not a perfect copy but a restored and working radio. So glad to have been given this by someone who wished to share an artifact of our past, with someone who will treasure it till the end of time.

Some trivia details about this early production model 20 , is the fact that there is no dial light installed. Later production had a light. Secondly phillips style screws were used before phillips acquired the rights to the star shaped screw heads in '35. I believe the inventor named Thompson still owned the rights to that type of screw head. Note there are three used on the face lattice. A ratty old cloth power cord, is in working order, so still being used. Ahah ha

For those that never thought about it. The philco name derives from the fact that it was made by a company in Philadelphia .
