      Well Pop you fit right in with the information you provided. It makes things much easier. I have a really good lead on the value of that bag. Did you happen to get her name?

      Not a side chair, an end chair for Dad or Mom. Looks like a Federal period chair also known as Empire period. If it's a period piece it's betweem 1830ish and 1850ish depending on where it was made. The lighter wooded pegs in the front legs are later fixes. Hard to say whether the caning id correct without seeing better detailed pictures. Could be much later as the style has been done after the period.
