We do not know the manufacturer or date for this item. There was a small ad flyer found inside kept from many years ago. It advertises "Walnut Pipe Racks & Humidors", "Outstanding Values from Amphora" and we did not see any date on the flyer.

This probably dates to before mid 1970's.

We have seen only one so far online. It is listed as Oak Pipe Stand and Humidor and looks almost exactly like ours. Only ours is missing the Aztec tobacco preservative inside the lid. Ours is dovetailed, too.

Anybody know more about this item? Thank you.

I would say it is red oak, quite modern hinges from what I can see and those are not dove tail joints they are finger joints. Humidors like this are fairly common unless they are carved or made of exotic hardwood. Wonderful item to add to your collection. Your guess on the date is probably fairly accurate. If it says Amphora then it was made for them or made by them. Researching their product line would be a great start.

Howdy fhrjr2 and thank you for the dove tail joints correction. After reading your message, I did research the difference in those 2 joints and learned something new. Will take a look around for more info about Amphora. Thanks again.
