    This is a likeness of Jules Henri Venon of Rouen, France (1873-1937) and his wife Gabrielle Clemence Venon of Paris, France.

    Jules H. Venon, president of J.H. Venon, Inc. importers of Swedish glassware located at 104 5th Avenue, New York, NY and resided at 41 West 94th Street, New York, NY.

    According to a New York Times article published on March 20th, 1937, Mr. Venon served in the American Red Cross during the World War and was honored for his work by memberhip in the French Legion of Honor. He was also a member of the Order of Vasa, Swedish Society and the Swedicah Chamber of Commerce.

      How many children did they have?

      Thank you for your comments. Jules and Gabrielle had one son, Claude H. Venon. Jules died when Claude was thirteen years old. Claude is now 88. Claude is an artist and enjoyed painting seascapes of the Long Island Sound off the coast of Connecticut near where he lived most of his adult life. I posted one of his paintings of the Five Mile River on the venon site, although I am not sure collectors weekly is meant for items such as fine art, so I did not post more. Would love you thoughts.

      Thanks for putting a face to the name we have been discussing for so long now, and i agree Gabrielle was very beautiful.
      I would be interested to see Claude's paintings as Jules Henri clearly had a very interesting artistic mind and it would be nice to see how this passed on to his son.
