    I found this at an antique shop. It has a patent number of 529, I think. There are a few numbers below that, but I am not sure if it is part of the patent number because there looks like a /06. on the next line. I looked patent numbers up on the internet and if 529 is correct, it was made in 1837?? It has one large hole and 4 small holes that are all the same size I am not sure what the 4 small holes are for, maybe for a peg?? The name Norris is embossed on both sides. I believe the metal is steel. Any information would be appreciated.

      Next question, what is a "lifter rod holder and guide"? What industry is it used in?

      This is a support for a vertical rod inside a piano. The patent explains this.
