I am still working on cleaning out that estate with my friend and finding great things daily. This old Chinese gong was found on the first day we went in the house. The bell weighs almost 5 pounds, and wood looks hand carved and has thin brass wire hammered in as decoration. It stands about 18" tall so pretty big too.
Thanks for the loves Bellin68, AR8Jason, vetraio50, blunderbuss2, and Phil. I found an old black & white photo dated 1962 of 2 people in front of fireplace and this gong is on the mantle in background.

Wow! I have one just like this and have been trying to find out more about it. I found mine about 30 years ago in the basement of a home that we purchased. It has been sitting on my fireplace mantle ever since.
