The Sentry by the Sea - Old framed photographic print

i'm not sure what these old photo prints are called, but i like them alot - particularly this one. it just speaks of this ongoing appreciation for generations of the spectacular beauty of old trees and california's wild beauty. please tell me what these pictures are called if you know. i think this one is probably from the 1940s, maybe 30s.
