Pollack, emphasizes the emotion of the work over realism. The lack of training also reduces the use of artistic metaphors, which makes outsider art much more appealing to the general public. Example Grandma Moses: http://www.missioncreep.com/tilt/pletan.html Artist Pletan did Landscapes: BOY DID HE, SIX PER HOUR!!!

Burnette G. Pletan is the Louis L'Amour of the art world, not only from a quantitative standpoint, but in the astonishing breadth of his vision as well. He is also an artist of the moment, prefiguring neo-expressionism by a good thirty years. He manages to blow contemporary mass production sensations Haring and Basquait off the wall (and the camper, and the gold pan . . .) with his prodigious output, and his self-promotion acumen would turn (the late) Andy's wig green with envy. In short, Burnette G. Pletan is an artist for all time, but particularly for our time. His mixture of naiveté, charlatanism, and singular devotion to a unique vision make him a genuine frontier spirit, a real-life American folk hero for the '80s, and a precious natural resource. As with mainstream art, there’s no guarantee that any particular artist will become more valuable than the others, but for the price there’s minimal risk in overspending. A Pletan painting recently sold on eBay for just under $100, and an independent seller is asking for over $2,000 for a particularly nice Pletan painting. HELLO I SAW HIM AT MT. RUSHMORE WHEN I DROVE MY VW CAMPER ACROSS USA AND ONE HALF OF CANADA. I will keep this and saw many years ago but did not buy. I will buy another if I see one under $10.00! I paid under $10. for mine and now there is one on ebay for over $300+! Thanks for looking
