    Happy-Rabb…
    (1 item)

I received this lovely Peugeot Freres Coffee Grinder as a gift many years ago and for many years used it to grind my morning coffee. It has just recently struck me that my grinder may not be an original, although when the gift was presented to me I was told it was purchased from an antique store. I am curious about a couple things. First, I have not seen Peugeot Freres Coffee Grinders with ornamental brass tacks on all surfaces. The top has 4 ornate brass tacks in each corner surrounded by two smaller plain round tacks. Each side has one ornamental tack in the center surrounded by 4 small round tacks. It SEEMS old, but I am not sure. I have owned it for about 20 years. The next "clue" that tells me it may not be original is on the brass emblem/logo on front, the left brad is not tacked in the exact center of the hole provided. The tack nearly overlaps with the P of Peugeot. I do believe the knob on the coffee drawer has been replaced, but am wondering if anyone can tell if the overall piece is original or not. The piece measurers 6 inches square and is 5 inches high. The coffee grinder handle measure 5 3/4 inches long. The dome is brass and the interior seems to be coated with enamel. The box is joined with dove-tail joinery. There is a stamp on the bottom faded to the point of not being able to read and also on bottom a mark starting with a symbol followed by TA under which are the numbrs 6 50.
