    Got this in a junk box at a military estate sale, unknown round with no markings, looks like a primer hole in the brass, compression system, any clue what this is?

      Glad to hear that it is not a high explosive incendiary 50 cal round. You never know until you ask?

      Itt's called a "boat-tail bullet". Principle gives more surface area for the propellant to act on & less "upset" as the bullet leaves the muzzle. Works well but normally too expensive to make to justify the slight increase in performance for anybody but governments using your money.
