Had to take 3 pictures to get all of it....purchased this tall case clock in the early 1970's at an antique shop along Route 20 in upstate NY when I was bit by the antique clock "bug"; had it shipped to Washington state when I moved in 1978....it's weight driven and I haven't wound it since moving it here as I had trouble finding a place in the house where it didn't scrape the ceiling & it's stuck in a hall....(have an Ithaca grandfather clock that I use and has kept perfect time for the 40 years I've owned it plus several other "oldies"). I'm hoping someone may know the origin, maker and date of this clock. At time of purchase I was told late 1800's; maker unknown?? It stands 7 ft 8 in tall & is a beauty. My daughter has caught the antique clock "bug" and is taking it to her home. We'd love to have more information on it....hope someone can HELP.....thanks!! In doing some research, I'm thinking this could be a Silas Hoadley....any thoughts?? Thanks.....

By the style of the numerals, I would say you are close on the date but I don't claim to be an expert. Really tall so could have been made for somebody to fit their house. With the plain design, I would classify it as a case clock & many of them went back into the 1700's but doubt it in this case.

In doing a little more research on the Antique Clocks ID & Price Guide website, on page 36 of the tall case clocks, I see one nearly identical & it's listed as a Silas Hoadley.....if so, this clock would be early 1800's, but not certain it is one of his?? Thanks for your input....any thoughts on it being a Hoadley???

Was able to check the works in this clock today & they are marked ST in the circle & diamond & under that is Made in USA & under that US America....can anyone date the works....wonder if this clock was made when Seth Thomas, Eli Terry & Silas Hoadley were in business together. It does not have the wooden works. Appreciate any information given....thanks
