    Family Heirloom from way back possibly 1800's.
    Carved Mother of Pearl (shell) on cobalt background

      What makes you think military? The hat? For unknown reasons, Mormons comes to mind.

      Mmmm because it came from a Military family and the Bugle Dove and the Calvary type hat. Indian made indians and war? Maybe I am on the wrong track :/ blunderbiss2!

      This also may be a bit of smoke in the wind, but the style hat also reminds me of the Afrikaners. Here again, It's just a feeling from the image.
