This brooch is made of fine filigree - This is a thin golden wire twisted into refined motifs. This technique demands very high skills and precision from the maker.
Till the beginning of the 20th century Dutch (place of origin of this brooch) people were recognisable by their clothes and jewelry. In the Netherlands every village had its own costume. Only by looking at a piece of jewelry or clothing, experts can tell from which region people are or which faith they had.
This piece is a little example of it. I had tested it for at least 10 K gold because I couldn't find any hallmarks at all.
This kind of juwelry still exists in gold and silver as you can find some examples in my collection.

maybe my filigree locket is dutch then but cannot see assays as worn but it has the numbers and letters x111 inside the back. I thought it might have been pagan wear from norway? but looked at every type of filigree wire work and found nothing like it anywhere.?

      Hi Johanna,
Thanks for looking at my items. I'v looked your siteand see your beautyful juwels. But I'm afraid that your locket is not Dutch because a typical thing for Durch peasant juwelry are the tiny buttons with around them a curled wire and also the(in case of my brooch 7) golden pieces above. That isn't the case for your brooch so I think your beautyful brooch is as you suggested indeed Norwegian.

Oh thanks for that as it did come from denmark anyway. Johanna.
