I've got a Vintage solid Oak & Cherry wood chest(?) by (as stamped on the bottom) George B. Bent Co., Inc. of Gardener Ma. 01440 .... also has 4611 written on the bottom ... measurements 24"high ...Top 29"W x 18 1/2"D ...inside of chest is 7 1/2" deep ...inside bottom of chest is 23 1/2" X 12 1/4" .... seem to remember seeing one or two of these growing up decades ago .... really curious "what" it's called, what it's intended use was, when it was made and any other info. THANKS!

We had one similar and it was called a sewing table . My mother kept her knitting items and yarn in it . Very nice post !!!!!!!!!! Not sure if it is called a sewing table but that is what she called it and I have seen them like yours with a inside tray for thread .

We have a similar box also made by Geo Bent. Its probably 50 yrs old. My parents always called it a dough box. No idea why.

I bought several Geo. Bent pieces in the 1970's & still have a sales flyer. On the flyer this is called a dough box, from the Andover Collection. I took a photo of the flyer, but don't know how to upload the photo.
