This is the last in a series of US patents issued to Joseph E. Stong of Toronto, Ontario, Canada for gates designed with the same theme. Patent #273,186 issued February 22, 1883.
I have an earlier model that is pictured in another posting. I thought it was interesting that I was able to find two from the same inventor. This one is a smaller simplified version of the earlier one.
