This particular Singer 206 zig-zag machine was produced in Germany @ 1938. The Zig-Zag 206's were not produced for the American market until 1953, 15 years later! It made it's way from Germany to Oklahoma City in 1939 and remained in a near-mint condition. It was uncovered in Denver in 1990 with all Attachments, Manuals, maintenance records, and the Top-of-Line optional accessories available at the time i.e., Light , Motor & Electrical Conversion kit to change from treadle to electrical power.
It's a beauty and sews like a dream.....

The book,"The First Conglomerate" by Bissel tells us that one of the major reasons for the declaine in SINGER was that they didn't introduce the "Zig-Zag" sewing machine in the United States soon enough. That the competiion from Necchi, Bernina, Adler, Elna, etc beat them to the punch and that when finally introduced in '53, it was too late....they'd lost their market share....
