I did post a picture of the key and see it on top of this page , thanks for help John
The key has a # 8 engraved and inside after removing liner all sides had a # 8 written in pencil. On right side in black letters were initials H. M. W.

Granddaughter just brought me a trunk identical to your friends, only difference is the dome top.
