      I am not sure that it is civil war era trunk. Looks to be more of an 1880's flat top. I think those latches were patented after the war -- trunker marvin would be able to tell us...

      I am curious if this was used like a military foot lock and if that was the actual letter font used. I am also curious of the name on it. I recently was able to find out a ton of history about my family online, I am hoping I could find out some history of this guy.
