Not totally positive about this item but I believe it's a old mariners rum ration cup made out of silver. Stamped on the bottom , "S. Rockford S. Co." which is Sheets Rockford Silverplate Co. from Rockford Ill. Engraved on front is, " Rolla N. Dak." which refers to Rolla, North Dakota. The serpent for a handle makes me believe it might be a mariners cup. It measures about 2" x 1 1/4". Any thoughts?

I have the same cup or tankard, that I purchased quite a few years ago in Idaho. Mine has a mountan scene with a tee pee ingraved on it. I always thought it was a souvenir toothpick holder. Anyway thats what I use mine for.

Thanks rocker-sd, it seems pretty small for a ration cup. Perhaps it was just a souvenir item from Rolla?

I think so, no oceans anywhere close to North Dakota, to have a mariner tie. Toothpick holders were a popular souvenir around the 1900's because of their small size.
