The Dala horse has really become a symbol for Sweden. The wood used to carve this horse is pine, it is then dipped in a base color and painted free hand. The pattern on this horse is called "kurbits" which appears in a lot of Swedish folk art. This horse was likely made in the Grannas Olsson workshop, which is the oldest company today that still makes Dala horses.
