Just found this knife in a jewelers shop. It is 11.5 inches long. Either bone or ivory handle. Knife has remnants of silver plating. the scabbard tip and top appear to have solid silver mounts. Inside the scabbard is wood to fit knife. the decorative brass strip on the scabbard also has silver plating remnants. I am interested on estimating how old the knife, primary use, possible manufacturer and origin. There are no markings on either the knife or scabbard.

Additional photos would be helpful-- both sides of the knife and scabbard. Also any maker markings-- they are usually on the thicker part of the blade where it joins the handle.

You also might find some silver hallmarks on the scabbard pieces.

This deserves a closer look as it appears to be a good one with some indications of being a 19th century example from your one photo.

Thanks for your comments Scott---added some additional photos (4 is max allowed). there are no perceivable marks on either the knife or the silver mounts. Hopefully the additional photos help. Greg
