Really need some info on this piece. Marked mccoy on bottom but unable to find the pot belly stove cookie jar in red. All I seen have been white or black. Did mccoy make these in red? Or did someone paint it red?

This has been painted over. It was originally black (note the inside color is almost always the same as the outside when it comes to McCoy)
Hmm ... interesting the Canadian Art pottery one looks the same:
