    I am wondering about the age and type of wood. It weighs a ton for a little table/stool. I do not know much about Asian furniture. I found this in a charity shop for $5.00.

      What indicates that it's Asian ? Looks like oak to me.

      I just thought the shape and the carved bats seem Asian. It also has a red wax seal on the underside. Thanks for liking it blunderbuss2.

      I don't see much age on it. Looks to be late 20th century to me.

      Chinese, no doubt, I think elm wood, stained.
      For 5$ you took no risk :-)
