This delicate pale pink cased glass vase has been in my collection for about 17 years. I had admired it in a shop for a few years previously, before finally deciding to buy it. All I knew was that it was from the Victorian era, otherwise it was simply a beautiful mystery.
Having recently read an article on Loetz.com on early, or Victorian era Loetz glass (thanks for the heads up, Michelle!) I noticed some similarities between this vase (and another to follow) & some of the pieces pictured in the article, most notably a pink vase numbered 33.05, plus some other related "tube" vases.
This conically shaped vase is made from two layers of cased glass, an extremely thin layer of gradated pale pink with a coating of clear glass that has a finely ribbed pattern. The applied circular footed base in clear glass has a delicate embossed pattern that resembles stylised leaf veins. The end of the cone seems to have been slotted inside an opening within
the centre of the foot. It measures 21.5 cm tall, 5.2 cm across the polished top rim, & 7.9 cm across the base.
As you can see, I have placed another pale pink Victorian vase along it, for comparison. I have just come to the realisation that these two are possibly related.
    Any thoughts welcome!

Very interesting! The colors and ribbing look similar to those shown in the article - and the foot on the taller one. I do see the relationship between the two vases, as well. You may want to email Kai at Loetz.com for his opinion - he is a highly regarded researcher, and I am sure he wouldn't mind! In my experience he is very helpful in his correspondence.

I made a comment on this post some 5 days ago, but this post seems to have been updated, so I will shortly repeat. Whereas the left vase looks like an early Loetz, the right one with the spherical foot is made by Stevens&williams.
