In all of my 63 years I have never come across one of these. I am told it is an antique and was made in Germany, the clockface/works by Westminster. The wind up key is missing otherwise I would love to hear the chime! The woodwork is marvelous and appears to be done in Black Forest style. Curious if anyone else has seen such a beautiful conversation piece.

You don't offer any dimensions. It looks like a modern Asian creation. Black Forest clockmakers did not make such clocks.

These are more modern decorator imports made for the American market. Some take older items and make them new. Others are totally new.

Thank you for your comments. "slackjack", the dimensions are 30" wide by 24" tall. What we know is it was inherited in 1976 and before that it had been in a family home for about 15 years. Still, even then, I suppose, repurposing went on as you mention, "SpiritBear".
