Bought this ceramic cat at auction inn Glasgow a few years ago as it really caught my eye in the saleroom. I rarely come across French Cubist items which this looks like so really 'pushed the boat out' as was a bit of a dogfight for this lovely item. I was bidding online so had no idea who the competition was, made for an exciting if expensive bidding competition. I have tried since I purchased it to find out anything at all about it without success unfortunately. It has, as 2nd picture shows C.H. FRANCE hand painted in black lettering to inside of figure along with some other undecipherable stuff, maybe symbols of some sort, just don't know.
Any information or pointers in the right direction would be really appreciated.
Thanks, Alex

Thank you for posting it. I have never seen anything like that and am always happy to learn about new collectibles. You have a real winner there!
Thanks Cindy. It is unusual but very handsome. I forgot to mention that it stands an impressive (approx) 14". Can't wait until someone who knows their Cubist movement gets in touch with some provenance. Had a look at some of your glass too Cindy and some amazing pieces there, will have a better browse shortly.
Regards
Alex
This is one of the coolest pieces I have ever seen! I love cats and better yet all my animals are black and white. LOVE IT. Thanks for sharing.
Hi from Sydney Australia!
There are other objects with this signature on the net. They made lamps and there are pictures of some of them on this ebay item ...the last image:
http://cgi.ebay.fr/LAMPE-CRAQUELE-ART-DECO-1930-C-HARVA-CH-FRANCE-NO-COPY-/280680198365
The CH might be ceramiques Harva.
It seems there's a refernce to this factory in "LES CRAQUELÉS ART DECO par Alain-René Hardy et Bruno Giardi."
Nice cat!
Vetraio50, you are such a wealth of information on pieces I am not familiar with. Thank you for your comments. And your own collection is awesome!
Thanks Vetraio, will try some more research using your suggestions. Regards Alex

Thanks Savoychina but have come across this bowl before during my researching. Unfortunately there is nothing obvious on my cat to indicate that it was made by the same person. Thanks for your contribution anyway, regards Alex
