The Amtrak specially designed commemorated an event that I can not recall. Photographed at the Steamtown NHS a few years ago

The two Conrail switch engines images were taken at the Norfolk Southern yard in Enola, PA, also, a few years ago.

And the Conrail road engine was photographed at the Kingston, PA yards. There were a number these hooked up, which were soon to be towed to have a date with the scrapper. Before that happened, thieves made off with both the air horns and bells from these beauties.

The Kingston yards, once a busy place for the Lackawanna Railroad are now a memory as the tracks were ripped up soon after the departure of these engines, which occurred quite a few years ago.

I really like those Conrail switchers. Looks like SW 1200s I think. Interesting how they are front coupled. Gives better visibility even though they are going backwards.

Good morning, Jenni......yes, that was a beauty. Thinking back, the design may hay have something to do with the USPS. Too bad that the USPS yanked service from the trains to the highways. That revenue kept passenger service afloat, and also relieved highway congestion and pollution. S everyone loses :( !!!!!
