Not tired of seeing quilts, I hope!
This is a favorite of mine even though I don’t know who made it or when they made it.
It’s made of polyester single knit fabric, all hand stitched into little 1.75” squares.
It’s huge: when I use it as a bedspread, I hangs almost to the floor on 3 sides of my queen size bed.
I have no plans to actually quilt it with batting and back on it....I love it just as it is!
I bought it for just a few dollars about 15 years ago at a second hand store. It was a bit dirty but after a gentle soak/ hand wash in the bathtub, it looked absolutely perfect.
I’m very happy with the bargain I got.
Every quilt lover who sees it feels the same way I do about it. We all wonder about the maker. Every stitch is precise with even spacing, every corner is square. Every square measures the same and the cut edges are very straight.
I wish I could take the credit for it but I have to give credit where credit is due: I don’t have the name of the person (could be male or female) but they must have had time on their hands and prided themselves with being precise.
Thanks for looking! Hope you enjoyed!
As always, all comments are welcome.

Thank you all for looking and loving - it’s much appreciated!
I’m in awe of whoever did do all this stitching....it must have taken a very long time.
Thanks for commenting!
looka like a lot of work went it to this ...nice .....
should read'' looks'' ..not looka ...lol later
I agree with you! It’s so big and the pieces are so small. I’ve wondered how someone was able to manage it.
I won a large raffle quilt once at an Army & Navy store craft and ends sale many years ago and I remember a nice aunt who was so proud of her doing work on a nice collection of her making. The matching colours and the whole pattern here is amazing and you got a prize piece. I remember seeing a cushion or pillowcase made in same manner a few times when mother had them. To even own a piece like this is very special indeed !~
Oh my goodness, I’m way behind on Thanking everyone who has taken time to look this quilt top over and give it a love! I appreciate you all!!
PhilDMorris, it’s so nice to know that this simple quilt top made, probably, from left over fabric or scraps and stitched together by hand is admired by someone (you) who has such, may I say, expensive, taste? ;^), and who has so many exquisite, valuable, beautiful items you’ve shared on CW!
Every time I see your name on a post, I know it’s going to be something really special.
That raffle quilt must have been a beauty! I hope the raffle brought in plenty of money since quilts take so long to make.
Thanks for stopping by to leave a love and a comment!
beautiful quilt! i would not have guessed polyester, which makes it even more interesting.
ho2cultcha, thank you very much!
Thanks to all for the 21 Loves!
Comparing the one I have with yours as asked. So far the pattern of the brown piece appears the same. I still haven't seen a second pattern match but there are so many. ..I picked this up at the DAV months ago. Measure 84 inches by 188 inches approx. The finished pieces are 1-1/2". Can't imagine the time and patience to layout and sew. Check my original post for picture of the piece you asked about.
