Last one for tonite before I call it quits. The biggest/heaviest of all shown this evening, it has likewise (as #3 anyway, in post #2) been something that always resided in a corner of my Dad's garage somewhere until I reclaimed it from their farm auction, where I generally grew up only knowing it as something that got pulled out when a sidewalk somewhere needed busted up. [imagine a 10-12yr old kid trying to use this thing to do that -- I've *done* it, with this... <lolol>]
The only name I've ever known it as referred to was 'the maul'. No idea where that name/term came from, nor how it ever ended up in Dad's garage, for that matter.
Looking anew at it now, there's probably at least half a chance it was first a railroad tool of some sort, seems like I have seen antiquish pics of men building railroads using tools like this, and I did grow up in a generally 'railroad' town so that part might not be out of the question. No makers marks or ID of any sort on it anywhere.
Again, if anybody recognizes anything specific about it, PLEASE speak up and let me (us) know!! :-) :-) :-)
