On April 13, 1882 the Los Angeles Telephone Company had 90 subscribers listed in it's directory. Twenty seven years later in Aug. 1909 The Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Co had 52,257 subscribers. This shows some of the growth in Southern California and the City of Los Angeles.

Los Angeles City has approx. 1.75 million landline telephones, Los Angeles County has 7 million landlines. This has dropped over the years because of cel phones.
