    Hello everyone!!
A recent find is this antique cast iron Right Facing Rabbit. It's features are far more defined than any other antique cast iron rabbit doorstop. He is a two piece design and held together with a single bolt. This one came to me with a heavy coat of white water based paint. Fortunately, I was able to carefully remove the heavy coat of water based paint and found a surprise underneath. I was thrilled to find that this rabbit still retains 90% of it's original polychrome paint and even a bit of the original eye color has shown thru and even a slight tinge of pink remains under his nose. The seams are incredibly tight and the paint quality is far above any other polychrome paint I've seen. This one is pretty rare and though it resembles a Kramer Brothers cast iron rabbit, I don't believe it is a Kramer Brothers as it is not marked inside like any other Kramer Brothers doorstops I've seen over the years. However, I'm not ruling out Kramer Brothers as this one may well be a very early Kramer Brothers rabbits that isn't marked. But since I don't know who cast this fellow and can find no other like him in any of my books or on the internet. But, If I had to guess, I'd guess very early 1900's or older. I have seen only one other, but no one had any details on that one either. So a rare one indeed!!

After I cleaned this rabbit, I polished him with a coat of transparent wax to help preserve his remaining finish. He stands 9" tall, 8" deep and 3 5/8" at his widest point. he weighs 5.30lbs.

Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

    Scott
