Here is a 4"H x 6"W red & black glass butterfly, the wings have black veining and the body is black, sitting on a clear base. Orig label on bottom says Dynasty Gallery Glass since 1951, where it was founded in San Francisco CA

Scott, it's a great shade of red that really showed up on a sunny morning when I took the pix
Phil, yes I think the red makes it more realistic, similar to a monarch butterfly which is one of my favorite nature sights in summer
DejaVu, the black & red do look super together, and the black veining on the wings is really done well. I always try to get them with labels on whenever I can, I have glass animal books but they don't cover all brands and sellers are frequently wrong (for example, Fenton animals are frequently mistaken, but many of those are in my books for cross checking :)

MrsT you are so right, with sunshine red glass always looks the best and I try to wait for sunny days whenever I take pix of it, otherwise indoor lighting can make red too pinkish. Great observ!

Gorgeous glass butterfly Jenni! The wings are so bright and rich looking despite the dark colour! Looks really verdant, like a rose. I would imagine this piece being so fragile, but it shows you have looked after it very well considering the lovely wings are really complete- great to see! The added veins through the red glass are also a great addition to it's realism!
