This beautiful cuckoo clock has a Bahnhäusle, or "railway-house" style case which is decorated with a oil painting on zinc. The painting depicts a romantic motif of a hunter and two children "bird catchers" trying to flush the cuckoo out of the old tree. The cuckoo emerges from a small hidden door in the the tree. Wood plate 30 hour movement. The clock was made in the Black Forest by cottage craftsman C. 1860. This is very much a style of Black Forest folk art at its best.
