Rare Durand chalice form vase in gold lustre with King Tut
decoration. Applied domed foot. 12 1/2 inches high.
The first time I saw one of these was at an auction house in Boston. The head of the glass dept. told me "I don't think it's Durand.....maybe even contemporary". So I didn't bid. A few years later there was one in a good auction in the mid-west. I sent the photos to the author of the Durand book and he told me it definately was Durand but not shown in his book.
So believe me when this one came up at auction I went for it like bees to honey.
