This is a Canadian ration book that belonged to my father during WW II, my parents and grandparents often spoke of the rationing during the war, & the ways they learned to do without some items or find alternatives. My mother told me how her grandma emptied a sugar container at a restaurant into a clean hanky, tied it up and took it home.
