This is my Father's "treasure box". He once said he got it in Washington in the '40's. It's full of things he had picked up over the years. I'm sure this is plastic and not baklite but know nothing else of it's origin. I'm putting under the mid-century modern category but can't say where it belongs.

There are several non-invasive tests you can do to determine if it is bakelite.

Did my homework, as suggested by packrat, and learned this is plastic.
