I just inherited this collection of Fenton glass. It was given to my grandparents as a wedding gift on October, 3 1908. I am looking for more information as to its value for insurance purposes. It is in perfect condition. The large bowl measures 10 3/4". The smaller bowls measure 5 3/4".
This is not Fenton; this is Imperial Glass Company's grape pattern. This iridescent treatment was called Azur by the company. It may have been a gift to your grandparents, but Imperial did not begin producing iridescent wares ("carnival glass") until Fall 1909. At this time the first color they began to produce was Rubigold (collector's call this "marigold"). The earliest iridescent wares utilized moulds already used for production in clear glass. Azur came about shortly after. With the increase in popularity of this ware, new moulds were designed specifically for it. Imperial's Grape pattern does not show up in wholesale catalogs until after 1910.
