This is a Vintage VW Tool Kit, unknown age, but probably from the 60's.
All original paint with some loss. The kit has the original blue tool inserts with some of the original tools. I have seen the round type kits that went into the spare tire, but not this type. If anyone knows about it please let me know.

Haven't seen 1 since the 60's! Great.
blunderbuss2,
I am not sure if these were given away with vehicles sold or employee used item.
Thanks for the love
The research I have indicates that these were provided to dealer mechanics in the 60's. I have one in mint unused condition with all of the tools.
Birdman,
Thank you for the information on the tool kit. What are these things worth in this condition. I wanted to repaint it to the original colors as seen, but don't know if that would devalue it.
They seem to be all over the place in terms of value. I've seen them from $300-$1,200. Maybe I've watched too many episodes of "Antique Roadshw", but I wouldn't alter its original appearance.
Birdman,
Again, thank you for the additional info.
