In the shed. These items are always a worry! Ivory? They don't taste like Bakelite (yes, I do stick them on my tongue). Pre-ban? But I found them in the thrift shop together about six months ago. The 'niello' engraved "Syl" for Sylvia, I suppose, suggested an earlier date. It is just a crisp edged version. The other has a rounded surface.
Measurements:
Width 1.0 cm (SYL) or 0.4" & 1.2 cm or 0.47"
Inside diameter 8cm (SYL) or 3.15" & 7.5cm or 2.95"
Outside diameter 8.7cm (SYL) or 3.43" & 9.5 cm or 3.75"

Yes, those are deffinitely ivory, I can see the Schreger lines very clearly. I'd be very happy to find those, they do well on eBay. I don't see a V though, it looks like Syl? Very nice find

Hot pin test: heat a pin and poke it in a discrete area. Smell burning hair = ivory

Nah, don't use a hot pin on those. Jewelry is my specialty, and I can tell you right now that those are genuine ivory. The lines are very clear
