This concrete cast cornerstone is from the coaling/ash dumping chute at the former Lackawanna railyards in Scranton, PA. Dated 1906, it is another testament to the DL&W's concept of building things to last. The railyard s now part of Steamtown, but Canadian Pacific and Norfolk Southern trains still pass through them.

The engines are pictured in July, 1948 in the DL&W's yards in Kingston, PA. I am confident that these hauled coal from the mines which were in close proximity to this photo's locale.

The next picture is of the Kingston, PA station on the DL&W's Bloomsburg Branch, around the first decade of the 20th century. Neither the station nor were the line exists now.

Finally, this fairly recent photo of The Lackawanna's Scranton, PA station is presented. This grand building is now a first rate hotel. It is near Steamtown, and active freight tracks still run past it.
