1867 - Wood and metal Patent Model. Utilizes lever operated fulcrum to tilt gate. Patented July 2, 1867 by Albert W. Cox of Indianapolis, Indiana, patent #66,300.
1967 - All metal gate with tensioned cable to tilt gate and hold in tilted position. Patent data unknown at this point. Label on gate indicates it was a Salesman Sample used by Luedtke Lumber Company, Lumira, Wisconsin.
