Hi, Thanks for looking. We just bought this old wood desk ($37.50 at estate sale !) and plan to take it to our cabin. The desk appears to be aviation related with propellers on the sides and a carved DC 3 American Airlines ( I think) plane in the middle (8 windows) and also on the top of the mirror (7 windows) . I cleaned it up and it looks great. It's 46" wide and 18"deep and came with a small bench.
This website is great and I'm hoping someone will have a little info on maybe who made the desk, where it may have been used originally and if there are other furniture based American Airlines items out there.
Thanks for the help.

Is it a vanity, with a mirror, a lot of them looked liked desks in the 1940s.
Its a real Beauty !! Phil.
I don't know...I thought it might be a vanity but not sure. Thanks for the quick comments. I guess a desk would not have a mirror. I'll be danged if I'm gonna hide it in a cabin bedroom!
I would think it is a one-of piece carved by an excellent craftsman as the design is so good. Possibly from the 30s to 1950 this design of plane was popular, I have never seen anything like it. Probably a vanity as desks never used mirrors. Would be a very rare piece, possibly made for someone with a passion for airplanes or worked with American.
It really is a fantastic find, it deserves pride of place for showing in any room !~Phil
