The dial on this clock appears to be anodized aluminum, red, almost magenta in color. Original painted finish on chapter ring, outer ring, and base is silver-grey enamel. I've seen others that are chromed, but I think that was a later enhancement, not an original finish. Area between face and ring is open, not glazed. Height is about 10 1/2 in. One-day mechanical movement. Designed by Frank N. Mariani and patented July 13, 1937. Manufactured by Diecasters of NY.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Special, a real classic. Thanks for the designer/mfg. info as well. Wish it we in my collection! RW
EXCEPTIONAL !
I have one identical to this one. It is in original condition. The ring and base on mine is clear coated metal not painted. The skyscraper and rear case/structure are painted Black. I have also seen what look like chrome versions in photos only. They may be polished metal and not actual chrome. It would be easy to strip the clear coat off and polish to a high gloss than re-clear coat.
These are great examples of Deco.

I love this clock, and I have been trying to find one to add to my art deco collection. Any interest in selling it?
Nah, this one's a keeper. And I do intend to investigate/repair the finish at some point. I have seen them come up for sale on ebay, but very few and far between - maybe two in the past three yrs. You might try this place, they've had them in the past: http://www.decollect.com/ Good luck!
