My grandmother started me on collecting at the ripe age of 5. Each birthday and Christmas, I received a salt dish and a new outfit she had sewn for me. She told me My grandmother started me on collecting at the ripe age of 5. Each birthday and Christmas, I received a salt dish and a new outfit she had sewn for me. She told me where the salt dish came from and whatever history she knew. When I was 16, she gave me a small book with hand drawn pictures of each salt dish she ever bought me, sides, tops and bottoms. She described the manufacturer if she knew, where she bought it and how much she paid. She collected goblets and carnival glas, which I inherited when she died, along with a lot of antique furniture. I love collecting to this day, including crystal, old prints, vintage jewelry and handbags...my husband gets quite irritated with me. I know nothing about crystal, but I enjoy it and use it. If I ever get organized???? it would be well worth my time to actually log details and values of the pieces. I keep telling my husband it's not junk and may prove of value to him when I kick the bucket! Granted, not everything...some of it is just because I loved it! (Read more)
