This compote I bought as a "study piece", as it has a disfiguring chip in the rim. It was only $5 from the local charity thrift store. I don't usually buy chipped glass, but I made an exception for this piece.
Please excuse the poor quality of the pics. The cutting is much sharper and cleaner that the photos would indicate. I am new at taking pics of cut glass, and it seems to be an art in its' self.
Compote measure a fraction under 10 inches across. Just a gut instinct, but I am guessing this is Tuthill. Anyone have any guesses on the maker? I see no signature and looked very carefully. Any guesses on the age? I am thinking 1910 or so.
It's a beauty! Who cares about a chip at that price? Beautiful cutting.

Howdy Tex.....Nope not Tuthill, they did not cut anything on a blank that looks like this. Most likely European but done well. The color of the blank is not Tuthill quality.
